Class Portraits
2015 - Present
A friend of mine succinctly observed, “Your Class Portraits are about the past, present and future.”
In these paintings we hunt for the familiar in the rows of “students” and recognize the effects of time — the layering and erasing. Each portrait is an individual study, some abstract and complex, some simple and whimsical. Other portraits may be ghost-like or completely obliterated – like the crossing out of someone you don’t want to remember. Others “portraits” emerge slowly like the triggering of a lost memory.
